Autumn Interior Design Trends to Watch Out for

Posted on: 22nd September 2016

Despite last week’s heatwave, our Indian summer is drawing to a close. As our thoughts turn to colder days and longer nights, we all want to make our homes snug havens to come back to. We take a look at some of the biggest interior design trends this autumn, and how you can bring them into your house.

Cosy Carpets

The mornings are getting darker and colder. Getting up is hard enough without having cold feet – make life easier with a luxury wool blend carpet in the bedroom. As a low traffic area, the carpet will stay in good condition for a long time, meaning you can afford to splash out. Neutral shades have a calming effect, but still bring a touch of warmth.

Warm Wood

Carpets keep the heat in, but they’re not suitable for every room of the house. When it comes to kitchens and bathrooms, the trick is to use a warm colour that gives the room a welcoming feeling – something the Scandinavians have been doing for centuries. Choose authentic engineered wood flooring or luxury vinyl tiles to create your own cosy log cabin.

White Stripes

It’s always hard to know what to do with hallways. The long, narrow space isn’t easy to use, and if you aren’t careful, it can become cold and soulless in the winter months. A runner is a great solution for warming things up and bringing a bit of colour and texture in – after all, it’s the first thing you see when you come home.
