Flooring for Scandinavian Style Home Interiors

Posted on: 9th May 2017

One style has completely dominated interior decorating in the last decade or so. Scandinavian style is characterised by exposed wood, an emphasis on space and light, clean lines and minimal furnishings. If you want to bring Scandinavian style into your home – you’d better start with the flooring. Here are three options available to you.

Natural Wood

Junckers solid wood flooring

Peel back your carpet and you may find hardwood floorboards that can be sanded down to achieve your Scandinavian style exposed wood floor. Chances are, particularly in older houses or houses that have experienced damp at some point in their lives, that some or all of these may need replacing. You may wish to replace with solid wood like the 14mm and 22mm planks from Junckers that we supply and install, but there are other options available to you.

Vinyl

If you want the look of wood to fit in with your Scandinavian style room, but don’t fancy caring for a wooden floor. One option you might want to consider is vinyl. The Timbertex range from Gerfloor is available in fourteen distinct natural wood finishes. It is tough, slip-resistant and comes with a warm polyester backing.

Engineered Wood

Lovefloor's Oxford flooring range

Engineered wood flooring is typically made from several thin layers of wood that have been sandwiched together. The Oxford range of engineered timbers from Love Floors comes in a variety of warm natural colours and has a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty. Engineered wood is particularly good in rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms that have fluctuating moisture levels.
