How to Choose the Right Floor for High Footfall

Posted on: 10th November 2017heavy footfall in a busy station

When fitting out an office, shop or community building you want a floor that will last well for years to come with minimal maintenance. You also want a floor that looks great and sets the right tone. A highly polished parquet floor looks beautiful in a stately home, but looks stuffy and uptight in a children’s library. Likewise, a bright pattern of carpet tiles is a cheerful and practical choice for an adventure playground but would look out of place in a solicitor’s office. Our experience and knowledge of flooring means that we can help you choose the perfect surface that will tick all the right boxes.

Commercial Floor Coverings

Carpet. We supply ranges of carpets that are anti-static, UV-resistant, non-flammable, noise-reducing and with excellent BREEAM ratings.

Heckmondwike Supacord is a very popular choice as it’s cost competitive and can withstand heavy wear and tear. The Supacord comes in either carpet or tiles and is made from 80% Polypropylene, 15% Polyamide and 5% Recycled Polyester. Available in more than 40 colours, it’s a great choice for schools, offices and shops.

Vinyl. Working with a range of manufacturers to offer a huge number of vinyl floor types, we offer the highest quality products available. Hardwearing, easy-to-clean and with minimal seals, sheet vinyl and safety floors are perfect for commercial kitchens, hospitals and bathrooms.

We’ve used Gerflor’s Taralay Element Compact for sports halls, classrooms and office foyers. The multi layered vinyl has a 0.75mm wear layer for incredible abrasion and scratch resistance. We also use Gerflor’s static resistant and cleanroom flooring which offer particular benefits for healthcare and laboratory settings.

Resin. Epoxy and polyurethane resin systems are incredibly tough, hardwearing and available in a massive range of finishes, colours and patterns. Resin floors are very long-lasting and easy to maintain making them a great choice for public buildings.

Altro Resin floors are functional and can withstand high temperatures, impact, heavy abrasion and heavy footfall. Available in a range of textures and slip resistant finishes, resin is great for sports and leisure centres, shopping centres and supermarkets.
