The Most Unusual Floor Stories on the Internet

Posted on: 29th January 2016

At Reform Flooring, we're no strangers to floors but these Internet stories are something else! From a strange hiding place to a blogger with a unique obsession, here are the best unusual floor stories on the Internet.

Hide and Seek

When Lincolnshire barber Haiman Mohamed decided to get into the cigarette smuggling business, he decided the best place to hide his contraband tobacco was under the floor behind the counter of his shop. Good enough to hide his product from the casual observer, you might think. However, when Customs and Excise came calling, they brought a sniffer dog. Nine thousand cigarettes were retrieved from where they had been stashed. Mohamad received a suspended jail sentence, a fine and community service.

Cheers!

Have you ever walked into a Wetherspoons pub and thought how nice the interior decor is? Us neither. However one tireless blogger has been painstakingly documenting the carpets of the 900+ branches of Wetherspoons in Britain. Every single one sports a unique design. Kit Caless is the man responsible for creating the blog. If you find yourself in close proximity to a Wetherspoons carpet, you can send him example shots to include in his blog.

Floorboard Games

A user of the social media site Reddit got his fifteen seconds of internet fame for posting pictures of what he found when he removed his carpet. A previous tenant had painted a giant monopoly board onto the floorboards. Well, maybe that’s not such a crazy idea – if the board takes up the entire floor, nobody can tip it over in frustration as the game enters its sixth hour.
