How We Dispose of Old Flooring

Posted on: 17th November 2017Fitting a New Carpet

When you choose us to fulfil your needs for a new floor you can rest assured that we also dispose of your old carpet, vinyl or wood. We only work with manufacturers who have responsibly sourced materials and we follow through our environmental commitments when it comes to the disposal of old flooring too.

Fitting and Removal

Any flooring we take up and offcuts or scraps from new flooring will be disposed of, we won’t leave you with bulky rubbish you can’t put in your wheelie bin. We make sure to recycle materials wherever possible and everything that can't be recycled is taken to the skip at our service centre for safe disposal.

Recycling Vinyl

We take our responsibilities to the environment so seriously that earlier this year we were bestowed with a ‘Gold Award’ from Recofloor, the champions of vinyl recycling. In 2016 we collected a whopping 11.82 tons of waste vinyl which will all be recycled into new vinyl flooring. Since 2009 Recofloor, who run the scheme, have prevented over 3000 tons of vinyl going to landfill, instead sending it back to manufacturers as part of an industry wide commitment to a circular economy.

Carpet and Wood Floors

Unfortunately carpets are difficult to recycle, but where possible we reuse as much as we can, giving away clean carpets and carpet tiles to various organisations and people who can make good use of it elsewhere. Our wood and laminate waste is very minimal, we find our customers tend to keep it either to reuse for DIY projects, for wood burners or sell it on!
